The Canvas Strategy
An amazing strategy, the IKIGAI, 5 facts about leadership, and some interesting Stuff ...
Hi Guys!!!
I hope you all doing well.
Let’s get started with one of the concepts I really liked, the Canvas Strategy.
The Canvas Strategy
The term is coined by Ryan Holiday (TW: @RyanHoliday).
We all wanted to accomplish great things in life, to get recognized, to have fame, and be our very own boss but do we always get it? I don’t think we get it so easily.
Whenever we have a boss to work under, a deadline to chase, or someone giving us orders or giving advice like: Make other people look good and you will do well, we get frustrated. Often we feel why we are doing it if we will not get any credit or recognition in the first place. This is definitely not what an IIM graduate wanted to do or someone who really knows the job.
What if I tell you, that it is not about licking feet or kissing ass but more about being an anteambulo. There is a term in Roman System, anteambulo : “one who clears the path”. Clear the path for the people above you and you will eventually create a path for yourself. Creating a Canvas for someone to paint on it.
“Great men have almost always shown themselves as ready to obey as they afterwards proved able to command.”- Lord Mahon
You might be thinking ‘Nainika, Are you Crazy?’ Maybe, I am. Let’s be very honest, when we really get out of college or start something, do well all know everything, and have the very experience of starting out. We are not as good as we think we are. Most of the things you and I have learned in school are outdated, the world is changing at a much dynamic rate, my friend.
Most of the successful people we know like Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, and APJ Abdul kalam had worked for someone else. What if they have neglected the opportunities because they were confident about having a prodigal mind and had started right away, maybe they weren’t as successful as they are now.
Creating a path for someone, well, can keep your ego in check for instance and also makes you humble. It is like being the least important person in the room- until you change that with results.
“Say Less, Do Much”
Whenever you help others without giving a cent about getting credit, you are being indispensable. You are creating deep valuable relationships and it’s going to have an impact on your future in a good way even if it is not visible now.
We see people like GaryVee talk about kindness and helping other people rise, they are the ultimately signaling at canvas strategy. Being kind to others start with being kind to oneself too. We gain tons of experience and connections by making way for others as it might help us to diversify the decision kills we have.
I get it, it’s not that easy but with little efforts and having a positive attitude toward the purpose of the organization you are working for can pay you with much larger dividends. Sometimes, you may feel like you are wasting the time, effort, and energy but once you fight this emotional and egoistical impulse, the strategy will rule out in your favor.
Consider each one an investment in relationship and in your own development.
You can get tons of experience, knowledge, and skills for working under people or helping other above you. Once you get accustomed to it, you will see what most people’s ego prevents them from appreciating.
The person who clears the path ultimately controls its direction, just as canva shapes the painting.
One of the Fascinating Thing:
It takes a lot of introspection to actually realize whether we are following our IKIGAI or not. We all get fascinated with materialistic desires and money, just human things, but once in a while we must sit down and reflect on our actions
TIP: Print it out and paste it somewhere you can see it and every weekend reflect on your actions. You never know what change it can bring until you do it.

5 Facts About Leadership - Inspired By Peter F. Drucker
One person can make the difference between success or failure in any organization. You can be that person by becoming a leader.
Most people become successful only through the help of others. You can attain this help through the practice of leadership.
You don’t need to be a manager to be a leader. You need not wait to be promoted. You can be a leader immediately by raising your hand and volunteering to lead.
The essence of od leadership is very simple. It is to help people to perform to their maximum potential to achieve the organization's goal or objective.
Good leadership doesn’t depend upon good deals or pleasant working conditions. Your ability to motivate people to perform to their maximum is independent of these factors.
