Leadership for GEN-Z, the grit scale, a productivity tool, and some good stuff....
Hello Reader!!
Hope you have an amazing week and are excited to start the last month of 2020 đ
Letâs Go!! đ
Leadership For GEN-Z
What is leadership? Google it and you will find that âthe action of leading a group of people or an organizationâ, but is it that simple?
Gen-Z is the most privileged in terms of information and knowledge. We literally have all the resources at a simple click of a finger, but are we, true leaders? Do we take charge? Are we blinded by the information and do not know how to channelize it?
Pragmatically leadership is a skill of taking the decision to take charge. It includes taking the charge of mindset, set a pace and direction for oneself and the people around him. A leader is someone who has a vision and the courage to actualize that vision. Leadership is not equal to management. A leader can be a good manager, but a good manager is not always a leader.
Rather the question is how to take charge and make effective decisions.
As Gen-Z we are surrounded by a jungle of rumors, media, social media posts, websites, analytics, statistics, influencers, etc.âŠ
Look at the diagram below that defines our situation right now:
Making the decision to become a leader is the first step to the gateway to a power that depends heavily on integrity and has an extraordinary will.
One skill we as Gen-Z need to develop is Critical thinking that governs the decision we make. We want answers quickly, we immediately tend to solve a problem without even thinking about it and the stakeholders involved. We accept that is plausible.
We are contemptuous to otherâs opinions and always trying to make our point without even stepping into the shoes of another person. Could this be the reason for our miscommunication with our parents?
Critical thinking is about how to think.
Critical thinking is asking the right question and strategically answer it that would result in an effective decision.
We as Gen-Z suffer from Availability Heuristics. The true information or actual events is obsolete. Identify logical fallacies, separate facts from fiction, and make a better argument yourself.
How do leaders succeed?
Leadership is getting things accomplished by acting through otherâs expertise.
No successful individual became successful by his own actions.
To lead, you must win minds and for that start with your own.

The Grit Scale
The previous week I was reading Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance - Angela Duckworth, I came across the grit scale which practically tells you how gritty you are or how likely you will stick to your idea and take action. Take this test and do tell me about your experience. đ
P.S: Donât overthink the questions.
To calculate your total grit score, add up all the points for the boxes you checked and divide by 10. The maximum score on this scale is 5 (extremely gritty), and the lowest possible score is 1 (not at all gritty).

Cool Productivity too to try
I have been using Notion which was recommended by a friend and it is such a versatile tool to create databases. It is practically like building my second brain.
For someone who loves to take notes, it has all become easier and more fun with web extensions. Also to handle team projects, it serves as a dashboard too.
It has transformed my life and has increased my productivity several-fold.
